Post 3: My best friend

My best friend is called Amanda, we met in eight grade at school, but at the end of that year she had to leave to live in Mexico. Despite the distance, we have still been the same close friends of that time, and in these 10 years we have made our friendship stronger and stronger. There is no one who knows me better than her. We share a lot of things, like the love for art, music and literature. Both love to write so we always share with each other our work. The most difficult part of the distance is that many times we don´t have time to talk, so for years we have written long letters to respond when we can, with all our attention.
We have many memories together, because she comes every year for the holidays, and every time she brings with her a book to exchange with me. But one year she came for my birthday, like a surprise and she made me a delicious and beautiful cake. That was the best gift I´ve ever had.

Post 2: The best concert ever

Wow this subject is always dificult. Fortunately I´ve been in a lot of concert of diferent types of music but it is very difficult to choose just one. But there is one that I will never forget. Mika´s concert in 2009 was my first concert I´ve been to, and it was with my best friend, Amanda. We met because we both like Mika and at that time it was very unknown.
I can´t remember where it was the concert, but I will never forget all the show. He came out all covered with flowers, singing just like in all his albums and we knew every lyrics and every detail of his songs. We were really fans at that time. And of course we stayed at the first line all the concert, being constantly pushed but really really happy.

I think it was just a concert like any other, but I will always remember it as a very important event because of my friend. After this concert she left the country and went to live to Mexico, and despite of the distance we are still best friends, remembering that concert like the best.

Welcome

My name is Sofía, I´m 22 years old and I study Architecture at Universidad de Chile.
I learned English almost by myself, watching movies and listening to music, so I think I can understend very well. But that´s why I still have problems to deal with connectors and grammar I hope that is something I could learn here in class, with a lot of practice to improve my English and hopefully be qualified to go to study someday in the United States or England.

Free themed topic. Favourite music

Since I remember, the music is one of the most important things in my life. I like to hear music, I like to play it, I love to sing, and listening other people playing music. I think music can connect people, and make a lot of changes in a place.
I don´t know if I can choose just one kind of music, but I love to playing latin music. I start to play guitar since like 7 years. I stat with rock songs, like Led Zeppelin or The Beatles. Then I became more grunge, and learn some songs of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Mad Season. All this songs I learn in guitar to play it and sing were the best way to learn english. But latin music have something different, something more simpler, more acustic that I´ve always liked. You just need a guitar and desire to sing, nothing more.
I always listened to the classics Argentine rockers, and the Chilean folklorists, but it is very easy to leave them behind with all the Nothamerican music that surround us. On the other hand we have the reggaeton thay has created a stereotype of latin music, as if the only thing we want is dance in the beach.
So every year, at summer, I make the exercise of finding new latin music, from Argentina, Peru, Colombia, México or Chile. There is a lot of musicians coming out all the time, trying to enter in the market and losing chances among the American industry,so I thing we have to do our bit to help.

If you would like to listen some latin music, I can leave you some names here of my favourites:

Eterno retorno- Perota Chingo
Duda Morena- Churupaca
Si vai pal sur- Churupaca
Soledad- Jorge Drexler with María Rita
La muerte- Monsieur Periné
Negra Presuntuosa - Susana Baca
P.F.- Diego Lorenzini
